I have been going to the gym for a little over 4 weeks. When I first started going to the gym, I wanted to in my mind but my heart wasn't into it. The first time around a year ago when I started at the gym I went for my husband, to support him. This time I went for my mother-in-law, Kathy, to help support her.
Now about 4 weeks later I have finally gotten over the hump. There was a week that my Kathy was sick and wasn't able to make it to the gym with me. Each day I could go (for a class or just to work out) I debated whether to go or stay home.
I talked to another friend who said she was going to run a 5k in May and I decided then that I am going to run the 5k with her. It gave me the motivation to continue that week and I have gotten up to running 2 miles in 30 minutes.
Another plus is my daughter, Aryianna, has been going to the gym with us. She has gone to 3 Zumba classes and ran on the treadmill with me as well. It's been fun to have her join me and she really likes it! I think we found our mother/daughter activity! Now we are trying to work out a weekly schedule. One that allows me and Aryianna to go to the gym.
The best part is how I feel. Just working out makes you feel good! I love that!

Starting Fresh 2011
I am on my own journey of fitness and health. I by no means have all the answers or know all there is about health and wellness but I know many struggle and sometimes little tips are helpful. I have loved watching The Biggest Looser and in the past it was while eating my pack of oreos! (Yes a pack!)
In October of 2009 I joined the gym with my husband and thought "Sure, I'll just stick to the treadmill while you do your thing". Within two weeks I had a personal trainer 3 days a week! It was awful! Yet so good for me. I felt so good during that period! Refreshed and Energized! I had never worked out before then because I knew how much work I would have to put in after having kids and still having baby weight. Boy was it work, but eventually I craved going to the gym. I hated to miss working out or going to a class. Up to now if have lost 20lbs!
Yet, in June of 2010 I stopped going all together. Our gym membership expired in October and I had probably gone three or four times from June-October. After that I quit completely. I just had no desire. I went back to all my old habits. I tried to start to eat really healthy again for a few weeks in the fall and then I let myself cheat and never started up again!
I tell you all this because we all go through up's and down's, I think it sometimes seems like an unachievable goal and you have to deprive yourself and in the end we give up. But if you have support, someone to push you and motivation anyone can do it!
Now it's January 2011 and we're officially members of the gym again! I've been going to Zumba for 2 weeks and plan to start up with spin classes too. I ran 2 miles today in 27 minutes! Was happy with that since I haven't ran in quite some time! I think I am going to challenge myself to run a 5k with a friend in May. That just might give me a goal to achieve and push me since I'm still trying to push through those first few weeks to get motivated after starting up from a long break.
I still have 15lbs I would like to loose but the feeling of being healthy is my ultimate goal. Those aches and pains and feeling lethargic. I am not motivated and feel tired a lot. And no, I know it's not due to pregnancy! haha...
I hope to help myself to get motivated to health and try to create lasting habits. Maybe even take on some cooking challenges, since cooking is something I really hate to do. Maybe you can even join me with tips, ideas and encouragement. I would love it!
